Peanut Tree Studio is the collaboration between sisters Ali Palmatier and Hayley Hara. Each piece in the exhibition was created by both artists. They used a variety of materials, including tea, coffee, ink, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencils, thread and a variety of paper.
In addition to Hayleys work as an artist and illustrator she teaches painting, drawing, mixed media and figure studies to international students at Ashcan Studio in Manhattan. She is also Ashcans Chair on the Board of Directors. She is a graduate of Pratt Institute, and is currently an MFA candidate at The Fashion Institute of Technology. She lives with her family in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn.
Ali received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an emphasis in Art Therapy. She received her Masters in Social Work and is currently employed at Astor Services for Children and Families in Rhinebeck. Her favorite medium is clay and she creates her ceramic pieces at Hudson Valley Pottery in Rhinebeck. She lives in Kingston.
All of the pieces in the exhibition will be available during the silent auction on October 2, 2010 from 6-9 at Mint, 1 West Strand, Kingston, NY. The auction will also feature local artists and will include ceramics, media art, prints, jewelry, and more.
